Easy Decorating Ideas Using Fondant Moulds

Fondant covered Vanilla Cookies

Easter is the perfect excuse to slow down and make something beautiful.

There’s something so special about placing a tray of homemade cookies on the table… pastel colours, soft florals, little bunny shapes. They instantly make everything feel lighter and more joyful.

I have created three beginner-friendly Easter cookie designs:

• A soft pastel bunny cookie 🎥

• A floral Easter egg 🎥

• A pink Easter egg with bow detail 🎥

And the best part?

💠 You don’t need to know how to pipe royal icing.

💠 You don’t need to be “naturally artistic.”

💠 You don’t need fancy equipment.

You just need a reliable sugar cookie recipe and a simple fondant mould technique.

I’ve shared the full step-by-step tutorials on my YouTube channel, and they are designed especially for beginners.

Why Easter Is the Perfect Time to Try Cookie Decorating

Easter cookies are a beautiful place to start if you’ve been wanting to try decorating.

💠 They’re smaller than cakes.

💠 They feel manageable.

💠 And they don’t carry the same pressure as a wedding cake or birthday centrepiece.

💕 You can make a small batch for family.

💕 You can bake with your children.

💕 You can wrap them as gifts.

And if one isn’t perfect? That’s okay.

Decorating cookies is about building confidence through simple repetition. Each one gets better.

The Foundation: A Sugar Cookie Recipe That Holds Its Shape

Vanilla Sugar Cookie Recipe

Before we talk decorating, we need to talk structure.

When I decorate cookies with fondant, I need a dough that:

• Holds its shape

• Doesn’t spread

• Bakes with clean edges

• Stays flat and even

If your cookie spreads, the design won’t sit neatly on top.

That’s why I always use my shape-holding sugar cookie recipe. It’s designed specifically for decorating, not just eating.

You can find the full recipe linked here.

Once you have a reliable base, decorating becomes so much easier.

How I Decorate Easter Cookies Using Fondant Moulds

Fondant Bow Mould

This is where the magic happens.

Fondant moulds are one of the easiest ways to create detailed, professional-looking cookies without needing piping skills.

Here’s how I use them:

1: Roll fondant thin and even

2: Lightly dust your mould

3: Press the fondant firmly into the mould

4: Gently release

5: Attach to the cookie with a small amount of water or edible glue

That’s it.

No shaky piping bags. No waiting for icing to crust. No frustration with consistency.

Fondant moulds allow you to create:

• Clean bows

• Detailed flowers

• Raised bunny silhouettes

• Elegant layered textures

They give consistency. And consistency builds confidence.

Many of the moulds and tools I use are from Cakers Warehouse. If you’d like to try them, you can use my code ENCHANTED10 for a discount.

The Easter Designs I Created

1: The Pastel Bunny Cookie

Fondant Bow Mould

This design is soft and sweet.

A pastel base cookie topped with a raised bunny silhouette and delicate floral details.

It looks intricate, but it’s created entirely using moulded fondant shapes layered together.

This is such a lovely design if you’re decorating with children. The shapes are bold and forgiving.

2: The Floral Easter Egg Cookie

Fondant Bow Mould

This one feels elegant but is surprisingly simple.

Start with a smooth fondant base. Then add small fondant flowers from your moulds. Layer them gently to create dimension.

The trick is keeping your colours soft and cohesive. Ivory, blush, soft pink and pale green work beautifully together.

No piping required.

3: The Pink Easter Egg with Statement Bow

Fondant Bow Mould

This design is slightly bolder.

A soft pink base. A large fondant bow. Layered florals for texture.

It looks beautiful packaged in a clear box as a gift.

Again, this is entirely mould-based decorating. It feels structured and controlled, which is perfect for beginners who want polished results without stress.

5 Simple Tips for Polished Easter Cookies

If you want your cookies to look neat and professional, focus on these small details:

1: Chill your dough properly before cutting

2: Roll your dough evenly so cookies bake flat

3: Let cookies cool completely before adding fondant

4: Lightly dust moulds to prevent sticking

5: Work slowly and press firmly for clean impressions

Small details make a big difference.

Why Homemade Easter Cookies Matter

There’s something different about handmade food.

💕 It carries time.

💕 Care.

💕 Creativity.

Your children will remember the bunny cookies. Your family will remember the table setting. Your friends will remember the gift box.

And you’ll remember the quiet moment decorating at the kitchen bench.

Baking is more than sugar and flour. It’s memory-making.

Why Homemade Easter Cookies Matter

Can beginners use fondant moulds?

Yes. They’re one of the easiest decorating methods because they remove the pressure of piping skills.

No. These designs are entirely fondant-based.

How do I stop sugar cookies from spreading?

Use a recipe designed for decorating and chill your dough before baking.

Where can I buy fondant moulds?

How long do decorated cookies last?

Stored in an airtight container, they can last up to one week at room temperature.
