There are so many things to organise for your wedding day, so let these Expert Tips guide you into designing a wedding cake that is perfect for you!


1. Look for inspiration 

Clients should browse wedding cake designs online or in magazines for inspiration and ideas, so that you have an overall feel for the theme of their special day. 


2. Budget 

When assisting your clients in choosing their dream wedding cake, ensure they communicate their specific budget from the start. This helps prevent any unexpected surprises or disappointments down the line. 


3. Dietary restrictions or allergies 

Do your clients or any of their guests have restrictions or allergies that need to be considered when selecting flavours and ingredients for the cake? Understanding these will help to determine if you can cater to their requirements. 


4. Cake serving size 

Do your clients and their guests enjoy cake? Ask your clients if they require larger dessert portions which will be individually plated for each guest, or smaller coffee portions. Should you need more cake than is on display, extra cutting cakes can be used to make up more serves where needed. 


5. Flavours 

Your clients should pick flavours that they both love and that will compliment the rest of their menu. Make sure to display your cake flavours on your website for your couples to refer to. 


6. Seasons can make a difference 

Consider the season of the wedding when discussing flavours, fillings & flowers. Will your client’s choices be readily available or out of season?


7. What is their theme 

Coordinate the cake design with other wedding details, such as the flowers or colour scheme to help to create a cohesive look.
